The Ursuline College basketball team dropped a 74-64 decision to visiting Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Arrows fell behind 7-0 before redshirt junior
Laney Lewis buried a three-pointer for the first points of the game. Ursuline pulled to within a basket at 9-7 but Saginaw Valley answered with an 8-0 run of its own to make a 17-7 lead midway through the first quarter. The Cardinals extended the lead to 24-14 after one.
The second quarter saw the Saginaw Valley lead build to 31-17 before Ursuline started to get the offense going again. The Arrows went on an 18-9 run capped by a jumper from sophomore
Brigan Wymer to make it 40-35 in the final minutes before halftime.
The two teams traded baskets most of the third quarter and Ursuline ended up outscoring the Cardinals 18-17 in the frame but the Cardinals held a 59-53 lead after three.
Ursuline got to within five at 64-59 with 5:20 to play in the game but the Cardinals scored six of the next nine points to seal the win.
The Arrows were led by Wymer who finished with 16 points on 6-for-13 from the floor while Lewis added 14 points and 20 rebounds in her fourth straight double-double. Senior

Camille Gist all added eight points for the Arrows.
Ursuline shot 26-for-67 (39 percent) from the field but went just 5-for-24 from the three-point line and 7-for-17 from the free throw line. Saginaw Valley also shot 39 percent from the field (26-for-66) and went 6-for-19 (32 percent) from three. The Cardinals were 16-for-19 from the free throw line.
The Arrows will take a short trip to Painsville, Ohio on Tuesday when they take on Lake Erie College at 7:00 PM.
