The Ursuline College basketball team improved to 15-3 on the season and 4-2 in the G-MAC with a 96-66 win over visiting Alderson Broaddus on Thursday evening.

The Arrows got off to a rare slow start at home in the first quarter as the Battlers came out firing on all cylinders on the offensive end. Junior Haley Robb connected on two three-pointers and senior Rachel Ashley finished a layup to put Ursuline behind 10-2 with 7:21 to play in the first.

Senior Raven-Symone Nelson, who has been providing a spark off the bench for Ursuline as of late, entered the game and quickly connected from beyond-the-arc and sophomore Camryn Hill added back-to-back layups to quickly make it a 10-9 deficit. The Arrows finished the quarter on a 17-9 run to lead by one after the first.

Ursuline began to find their rhythm in the second quarter as they led 24-23 before going on a 12-0 run that was capped off by another three from Nelson to make it 36-23 midway through the second quarter. A layup by sophomore Camille Gist made it 47-29 which gave the Arrows their biggest lead of the game at that point.

The Arrows turned up the defensive effort and held the Battlers scoreless over the course of three minutes of play in which they went on an 11-0 run that included a pair of three-pointers from Hill and one from junior Erica Huber.

Hill led the Arrows with 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting including 3-for-4 from behind-the-arc. She also had 11 rebounds and blocked one shot. Nelson finished with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting including 4-for-6 on three-point attempts. Redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis played an efficient all-round game finishing with 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting and also added 13 rebounds, four assists and five blocked shots. Freshman Natalie Koenig added 14 points and had nine assists.

Ursuline shot 45 percent (39-for-87) from the field and went 11-for-30 from behind the arc. Alderson Broaddus was 36 percent (23-for-64) from the field and shot 8-for-24 from three. The Arrows won the rebounding battle 49-29, including 19-8 on the offensive end and had 12 turnovers while forcing 21.

The Arrows will host Davis & Elkins College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM and it will be Alumane Day. The game can be seen live on the UC Sports Network.

Game Notes: The Arrows are now 10-2 at home this season and are averaging 91 points per game at home… Ursuline had 25 assists on 39 field goals… The 15 wins on the season ties a school record for most wins in a season in program history…Hill has now posted 10 double-doubles in 18 games this season… Lewis leads the G-MAC in blocked shots with 1.6 per game and also leads the G-MAC in 10.3 rebounds per night...Ursuline has outscored opponents 429-300 in the first quarter...The Arrows have have the sixth highest scoring offense in all of NCAA Division II at 84 points per game.Â
