The Ursuline College basketball team dropped a tough 82-74 decision to visiting Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon to fall to 3-2 in G-MAC play.

The Arrows (13-3, 3-2) once again jumped out to a quick start on their home floor behind back-to-back three's from sophomore Camryn Hill (Strongsville/Strongsville) and freshman Natalie Koenig (Waueson/Waueson) to make it 6-0.

After a jumper by redshirt Laney Lewis (Lynchburg/Lynchburg Clay) made it 10-5, the Yellow Jackets answered with a run of their own take the lead at 12-11 with 5:50 to play in the first quarter. Cedarville built the lead to 25-19 before Lewis hit a jumper and freshman Brigan Wymer (Delta/Delta) buried a three-pointer to make it 25-22 at the end of the first quarter.

Ursuline struggled offensively in the second quarter as Cedarville built the lead to 37-24 on a jumper by Kaysie Brittenham with 6:18 remaining in the half. Another jumper from Brittenham late in the half extended the lead to 46-31.

The Arrows regained their offensive firepower in the third quarter after Wymer hit another three to cut the deficit to six at 53-47 and junior Erica Huber (Anna/Anna) finished off a fast break with a layup to make it 53-49 with 3:25 to play in the quarter. Huber capped off a 7-0 run that gave the Arrows a 57-56 lead late in the third with a three-pointer.

Cedarville got a three-pointer from Brittenham to regain the lead at 59-57 with 1:13 to play in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets held a 62-59 lead after the third.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle between two of the league's top teams. Huber finished a fast break with another layup to make 71-65 and followed it up with a three-pointer to pull the Arrows to within three at 71-68 with 4:21 to play. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Arrows 11-6 over the final four minutes to pick up the win.

Ursuline shot 39 percent (25-for-65) from the field and went 11-for-31 from behind the three-point line while Cedarville was 47 percent (30-for-64) from the field and went 10-for-28 from beyond-the-arc. The Arrows forced 22 turnovers while committing 14 of their own while the Yellow Jackets won the rebounding battle 38-26.

Lewis led four Arrows in double figures with 22 points and 12 rebounds while also dishing out seven assists and picking up two steals in 40 minutes. Huber finished with 17 points and four steals while Koenig added 13 points and Hill chipped in 11 points and blocked two shots.

The Arrows will step out of G-MAC play on Saturday, January 23 when they travel to Bluefield State University for a 2:00 PM tip off.
