The Ursuline College basketball team won its seventh straight game with an 89-69 win over visiting Clarion University on Wednesday evening at the Seidman Gymnasium.

Ursuline (10-1) once again used a strong start on their home floor to build a first quarter lead. With the game tied 2-2, the Arrows went on a 7-0 run to take a 9-2 lead before Clarion started to battle back.

The Eagles tied the game 15-15 late in the first, but Ursuline closed the quarter on an 11-0 run sparked by three straight three-pointers from junior Erica Huber (Anna/Anna), Christiana Jefferson (Toledo/Toledo Notre Dame) and Brigan Wymer (Delta/Delta) to lead 26-15 after one.

Clarion pulled to within seven at 28-21 at the 5:46 mark of the second quarter but once again the Arrows pulled away with 15-7 run to build a 43-28 lead at the intermission.

The Eagles offense picked up in the third quarter but would only get as close as 45-34 with 7:24 to play in the frame. Ursuline outscored Clarion 46-41 in the second half.

The Arrows were paced by 18 points from sophomore Camryn Hill (Strongsville/Strongsville) while Huber added 16 points on 6-for-11 from the field including 4-for-7 from beyond-the-arc. Redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis (Lynchburg/Lynchburg Clay) picked up another double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. She added five assists and three blocked shots as well. The freshmen duo of Wymer and Natalie Koenig (Wauseon/Waueson) each added 11 points and were a combined 9-for-11 from the field.

Ursuline shot 53 percent (34-for-65) from the field and were 12-for-20 (60 percent) from beyond-the-arc. The Arrows dished out a season high 23 assists on their 34 field goal makes. Clarion shot 39 percent (28-for-72) on the game and were 6-for-27 from the three-point line.

The 10-wins is the most for Ursuline since going 14-14 in 2013-14 and the seven straight wins is also a school record.

The Arrows open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday at home against the conference tournament runner-up Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM and the game will be streamed live on the UC Sports Network.Â
