The Ursuline College basketball team rallied in the final minutes but fell short in a 70-66 road loss at Tiffin University on Tuesday evening.
 
The Arrows (3-1) got out to a quick start after sophomore Camryn Hill (Strongsville/Strongsville) finished inside and redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis (Lynchburg/Lynchburg Clay) buried a three-pointer to stake Ursuline to a 7-2 lead.
 
Tiffin (2-2) answered with a 5-0 run over their own to take an 8-7 lead and the two teams traded baskets for the rest of the first quarter. Junior Erica Huber (Anna/Anna) connected on a three-pointer to put the Arrows back in front at 12-10. Tiffin closed the quarter on a 9-4 run to lead 19-16 after one.
 
The two teams played each other evenly in the second quarter before another three by Huber put the Arrows in front 29-25 with two minutes left in the half. Ursuline built a 35-30 lead before Tiffin freshman Allison Schirmer drove and finished a layup before time expired to make it 35-32 at the break.
 
Tiffin came out shooting the ball very well in the third quarter but the Arrows continued to answer back. The Dragons built a 44-41 lead after senior Bre Nauman hit a three-pointer but Arrows freshman Brigan Wymer (Delta/Delta) answered back with a three of her own to make it 46-44. Wymer hit another three to bring the Arrows within one at 51-50 late in the third.
 
The Dragons continued to shoot the ball well to start the fourth quarter and built their largest lead of the game at 64-53 with 7:13 remaining. Ursuline started their rally with back-to-back baskets from Hill and a layup from Huber to make it 66-61 with 2:11 remaining.
 
Hill picked up an offensive rebound and finished a layup with a foul to bring the Arrows within three at 66-63. After a Tiffin turnover, Huber drained a huge three-pointer to tie the game 66-66 with :48 seconds remaining. The Dragons came to the other end and got a game-winning layup from senior Jordan Fraley with :19 seconds remaining.
 
Ursuline once again had five players in double figures led by Huber with 16. Wymer finished with 13 points and Koenig and Hill both added 12. Lewis finished with 10 points and five assists. The Arrows shot 36 percent from the field in the game while the Dragons were 48 percent. Tiffin won the rebounding battle 46-34.
 
The Arrows return home after Thanksgiving break to host crosstown rival Notre Dame College on Sunday afternoon. The tipoff is set for 2:00 PM and the game will have both live video and audio on the UC Sports Network.
