The Ursuline College athletic department and Director of Athletics Cindy McKnight is pleased to announce the addition of Eileen Ferry as the new Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach.
She becomes the second head coach in program history.
Ferry brings a wealth of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level. She spent the 2017-18 season at Robert Morris University as an assistant coach and the previous six years at Monmouth University as both a head coach and assistant coach.
“I am excited to join the Ursuline College community and to lead a team of dedicated young women. I want to thank Cindy McKnight and the entire search committee for their confidence in me. I identify with the focus of the college and the mission of the athletic department to use athletics as a mode to fully develop each student-athlete, athletically and academically, to prepare them for life after graduation. I look forward to building a culture within our program that will serve these wonderful student-athletes for the rest of their lives,” said Ferry.
She was named the head coach in 2015 at Monmouth after spending four years as an assistant coach for the Hawks. In her first season as head coach, she led Monmouth to its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship game after finishing the season with a 12-9 record.
She finished with an 18-18 overall record as the head coach at Monmouth and had seven players earn all-conference honors and 22 named to the conference’s academic honor roll. During her time as an assistant coach, she helped guide the Hawks to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2012 and 2013.
The Arrows finished last season with a 7-11 overall record and went 5-7 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ursuline won the inaugural G-MAC Championship in 2015 and appeared in the conference championship game in 2016.
Last season, Ursuline had four players named to the G-MAC All-Conference, including three returning players for the 2019 season. Overall, the Arrows return 13 players from last year’s team.
Ursuline opens the 2019 season on Saturday, March 2 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Northern at 2:00pm.
