Pepper Pike, OH--The UC men's golf team made its competitive debut over the weekend at the Gatorade Intercollegiate, earning a 10th-place finish in the program's inaugural competition. 

The Arrows posted a two-round team score of 607, while Mount Aloysius claimed the team title with a score of 580. 

Rafa Tanjung of Wooster captured individual medalist honors, finishing atop the 61-golfer field with a two-round score of 141. 

Preston Troiano led the way for Ursuline, tying for 10th place with a score of 145. Toriano entered the 18th hole of his second round just one stroke off the lead and had an opportunity to tie for first. Facing a difficult shot from the right tree line, Troiano attempted the hero shot but was unable to convert, ultimately finishing at 1-over par. 

Ian Garcia followed with a two-round score of 150 to tie for 26th place. 

Shane Bates finished with a score of 154, while Ian Gardner posted a 158. 

Rounding out the Arrows' lineup was Trenton Shrock, who finished with a score of 166. 

"I was pleased with how we played," said Head Men's Golf Coach Andy Deehr. "Our mistakes this week were based off of inexperience and being completely locked in and engaged for each shot. These issues are easier to fix than physical issues." 

Deehr continued, "We will retool this week and prepare for Mount Union this coming weekend." 

Up Next: The Arrows will compete in the Mount Union Men's Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Alliance, Ohio, at Tannenhauf Golf Club.
