Ashland, OH--The Ursuline College volleyball team fell to Great Midwest Athletic Conference leader Ashland, 3-0, Saturday.
The Arrows (2-15, 0-6 G-MAC) dropped the match by set scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-18, while Ashland improved to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
Ashland controlled the opening set from the start, building an 18-10 advantage before closing the frame with a 7-1 run to take a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles carried that momentum into the second set, opening with a 5-1 run. Ashland continued to build its lead with a 6-1 stretch to move ahead 15-7 before using a 6-2 run and a 5-2 finish to take the set, 25-13.
Ursuline found its footing in the third set, putting together an 8-2 run to take an early lead. Ashland answered with a 7-2 stretch to regain control, and the teams traded points before the Eagles closed the match with an 8-2 run.
Ellie Zoeckler led the Arrows with eight kills, while Kimora Hansbrough and Skye Peairson each added six.
Vada Belt paced Ursuline with seven assists. Annie Quinlan followed with six assists, while Sophia Serrano added five.
Zoeckler also led the Arrows defensively with nine digs. Frida Martinez contributed two block assists and one solo block.
Up next: Ursuline returns to action Wednesday, traveling to Glenville, W.Va., to face Glenville State in a nonconference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
