Pepper Pike, OH--The Ursuline College volleyball team fell to Findlay, 3-0, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action Friday evening.
The Arrows (1-12, 0-4 G-MAC) dropped the match by set scores of 14-25, 12-25 and 23-25.
Findlay (5-5, 2-1 G-MAC) controlled the opening two sets. The first set featured a 14-12 score before the Oilers closed on an 11-2 run to take a 1-0 lead. Findlay followed a similar script in the second set, turning a 14-10 advantage into an 11-2 run to claim the set, 25-12.
The third set provided a much different story as the Arrows battled back after falling behind early. Findlay jumped out to a 13-6 lead and later extended its advantage to 17-8. Facing a 21-12 deficit, Ursuline responded with a 10-2 run to pull within one point at 23-22 and regain momentum. Findlay ended the run with a kill to move to match point. The Arrows answered with a point of their own, but the Oilers recorded the final point to close out the match, 25-23.
Findlay held the statistical advantage throughout the match, posting a .359 attack percentage compared to Ursuline's .000. The Oilers also led in kills, 43-20, and committed 10 attack errors to Ursuline's 20.
Both teams recorded eight service aces, while Findlay held a 10-4 disadvantage in service errors. The Oilers also led in assists (39-18), digs (43-34) and blocks (8-3).
Ellie Zoeckler led the Arrows offensively with six kills, while Madison Morris added five.
Vada Belt directed the Ursuline offense with 10 assists. Mya Jackson anchored the defensive effort with 16 digs and added four service aces.
Up next: The Arrows return to action Saturday when they travel to Fairmont, West Virginia, to face Fairmont in nonconference action. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
