Pepper Pike, OH--The Ursuline College volleyball team faced a challenging weekend of non-conference competition at the Rollins Invitational, going 0-4 across four matches Friday and Saturday.
The Arrows opened the tournament against host Rollins College, falling 3-0. Ursuline finished the match with a .011 attack percentage and recorded 22 kills. Skye Peairson led the Arrows with eight kills, while Madison Morris made an impact at the net with four blocks. Annie Quinlan and Sophia Serrano each contributed eight assists, and Mya Jackson paced the defensive effort with 11 digs.
Ursuline returned to the court Friday evening against St. Mary's and came out strong, taking the opening set 25-21 while hitting an impressive .355. The momentum shifted after the first set, however, as St. Mary's rallied to claim the next three sets and secure the 3-1 victory.
The Arrows finished the match with a .096 attack percentage. Ellie Zoeckler led the offense with 10 kills, while Kimora Hansbrough added eight. Hansbrough and Frida Martinez each recorded four blocks to lead Ursuline at the net. Jackson continued to provide a strong defensive presence with 16 digs, while Serrano directed the offense with 14 assists.
The Arrows began Saturday's action against Southern Connecticut State, falling 3-0. Despite the result, Ursuline showed improvement offensively, raising its attack percentage to .130 for the match. Peairson led the Arrows with seven kills, while Serrano posted 15 assists. Quinlan anchored the defense with 15 digs.
Ursuline closed out the invitational against Concord, which earned a 3-0 victory over the Arrows. Ursuline finished with a .060 attack percentage, with Peairson once again leading the team offensively with eight kills. Serrano added 13 assists, while Jackson turned in another strong defensive performance with a team-high 17 digs.
Up Next: The Arrows will look to regroup and add to the win column next weekend when they travel to Wheeling, West Virginia, for the Wheeling Invitational.
