The Arrows Drop Two on the Road To Top G-MAC Seeds

URSULINE VS. ASHLAND
SCORE: Arrows 64 – Eagles 85
LOCATION: Ashland University | Ashland, OH

FIRST HALF
  • The Eagles opened up the first quarter with a strong push before the Arrows tied the game 11-11 at the 3:38 mark. Both teams battled, keeping a tie at 16-16 going into the second quarter.
  • Ursuline grabbed a quick lead in the first two minutes of play before the Eagles came back and regained the lead. An 11-point unanswered scoring run by the Eagles set them up for the 44-30 lead going into the break.
  • Ashland narrowly outshot the Arrows from the field, shooting 50% compared to UC's 42.9%.
  • The Eagles outscored Ursuline 28-14 in the second quarter.
SECOND HALF
  • The Eagles pushed forward in the third quarter, holding UC to shoot just 18.8% from the field. They outscored the Arrows 20-12 and led 64-42 going into the final quarter.
  • The Arrows bounced back in the fourth quarter, Stottsberry with 9 points in the fourth alone.
  • Ursuline outscored Ashland just 22-21, not enough to come back from their deficit.

  • FG PERCENTAGE: Arrows 38.3% (23-60), Eagles 48.4% (31-64).
  • 3-PT PERCENTAGE: Arrows 21.4% (3-14), Eagles 50% (8-16).

  • REBOUNDS: Arrows 35 (10 offensive), Eagles 40 (10 offensive).
  • ASSISTS/TURNOVERS: Arrows 10/16, Eagles 24/14.
  • Four Arrows scored in the double digits, led by Riley Stopp with 17 points and 4 rebounds,
  • Madison Cloonan followed up with 14 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
  • Michaela Cloonan added in 13 points and 3 assists while Madyson Stottsberry had 12 points and 2 rebounds.

FIRST HALF
  • The Arrows found themselves down by 13 points (17-4) in the first six minutes of play, a deficit they would fight against a remainder of the game.
  • A five point run at the end of the first set the Arrows up to push against the lead in the second.
  • Both teams scored 11 points in the second, not enough for Ursuline to bridge the gap.
  • UC saw better shooting from the free throw line but still shot just 28.6% (4-14) this quarter from the field, compared to TM's 53.8% (7-13).
SECOND HALF
  • Ursuline came out of the break with a new mentality, forcing turnovers from Thomas More that set the Arrows up for multiple scoring runs.
  • The Arrows chipped away within six points at the end of the third, Michaela Cloonan with 8 points alone this quarter.
  • UC again pushed and brought themselves within just three points. The Saints answered with a 10 point scoring run where the Arrows couldn't find the basket.
  • This inevitably led to Ursuline falling by 11 to Thomas More.
STATS, NOTES & NUMBERS
  • FG PERCENTAGE: Arrows 32.7% (17-52), Saints 47.9% (23-48).
  • 3-PT PERCENTAGE: Arrows 5.9% (1-17), Saints 21.4% (3-14).
  • FREE THROW PERCENTAGE: Arrows 61.9% (13-21), Saints 71.4% (10-14)
  • REBOUNDS: Arrows 28 (10 offensive), Saints 38 (9 offensive).
  • ASSISTS/TURNOVERS: Arrows 5/10, Saints 14/17.
  • The duo of Michaela and Madison Cloonan led the Arrows against the Saints. Michaela with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals and Madison with 12 points and 3 assists.
  • Riley Stopp followed up with 10 points for UC.

  • The Arrows return home for their next match up in a week versus Lake Erie. They will take on the Storm on Saturday, February 17th at 2 PM.
