Thrilling G-MAC Opener Has Arrows Falling In Final Second of Play

URSULINE VS. KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE

FIRST QUARTER
  • The G-MAC opener had both teams showing up to play, the Arrows shooting 42.9% (6-14) while the Panthers shot 41.7 (5-12).
  • With ten lead changes in the first quarter alone, both teams knocked in 13 points in the first for a tie game.
  • The Arrows won the rebounding game, rebounding 7 to 5.
  • Kamryn Dziak led the charge in her full ten minutes of play, knocking in five points for her team.
 
SECOND QUARTER
  • Stopp put in two quick layups to start the second to give the Arrows a lead that they would hold onto for five minutes of play.
  • The Panthers tied it up at 5:04 before the Arrows pushed play again, keeping their lead until UC committed a foul to send KWC to the free throw line. A set of 2-2 tied the game up at 29-29 before the break.
  • The Arrows outshot the panthers 63.6% to 43.8% from the field, both teams scoring 16 points each.
  • Stopp had 13 points in the first half alone.
 
THIRD QUARTER
  • Three lead changes in the first five minutes of play kept the game tight before KWC went on an 8 point unanswered run.
  • With the Arrows down 8, Haren, Stopp and Dziak all put shots in to bring the gap down to just two points before a final driving layup from the Panthers to keep them at a 50-46 lead.
  • Ursuline sent Kentucky Wesleyan to the free throw line one too many times this quarter, the Panthers going 5-9 to help them gain a lead.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Dziak had a second chance layup and a three pointer in the first 2:30 of play to get the Arrows going.
  • Brooke Haren showed up big for her team in the fourth, as the Arrows regained the lead of a series of plays by Haren – an assist, a jump shot with a drawn foul to put in an extra point and a defensive rebound.
  • The Panthers went on a hot streak for a six point lead with 2:55 left before the Arrows again tied the game 62-62 with :50 on the clock.
  • A shot from each team each had it tied at 64-64. With 00:02 on the clock, KWC made a driving layup to win the game.

  • 3-PT PERCENTAGE: Arrows 23.5% (4-17), Panthers 26.1% (6-23)

  • REBOUNDS: Arrows 33 (9 offensive), Panthers 29 (14 offensive)
  • ASSISTS/TURNOVERS: Arrows 18/21, Panthers 12/15.
  • Riley Stopp led her team with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. She shot 76.9% (10-13) from the field.
  • Kamryn Dziak followed up with 13 points, going 33% from the arc and 45.4% from the field.
  • Sophia Kline tallied 12 points, 3 rebounds and four assists.

  • The Arrows remain on the road to take on Thomas more on Saturday, December 7th at 1:00 PM.
