Lacrosse Falls 10-14 On Senior Day

The Ursuline College lacrosse team fell to the Lake Erie Storm 10-14 on Friday evening in a rainy competition. Ursuline celebrated three seniors in this senior day game, Shelby Burrows, Priscilla Richardson and Liz Hanks.
 
The Arrows came out of the gate with two strong goals to open up the game. The first by Paige Jankowski and the second on a free position shot by Allie Marks within the first two minutes of play. Lake Erie rebutted with a goal of their own before Marks put in her second goal of the game just seconds later. The Storm scored two more goals to tie the game at 3-3. Arrows' Jillian Guiles made a shot to take the lead, however Lake Erie answered in the final minute of play to tie the game once more 4-4 at the end of the first.
 
The second quarter consisted of back and forth action for both teams. Jankowski scored the Arrows fifth goal of the game to start and Lake Erie answered with their own fifth goal. Shelby Burrows added in a goal of her own off a pass from Paige Christoff. After the Storm received a yellow-card, the scored a man-down goal to tie the game again 6-6. Priscilla Richardson added in a man-up goal and Guiles scored a free-position shot back-to-back. The Storm added in one more in the final minute of play to bring the score to 8-7 at the break.
 
The Arrows lost some steam in the second half, Lake Erie outshot UC 15-5 in the second half, scoring seven total goals compared to Ursuline's two. Both goals from the Arrows were made in the third quarter by Marks and Guiles. Despite their efforts, the Arrows could not find a way to stop the late run from the Storm. Lake Erie walked away with a 10-14 win in the GMAC match up.
 
Ursuline was led by two Arrows having hat tricks on the day, Allie Marks and Jillian Guiles. UC saw two goalies in the net, Liz Hanks with nine saves and 13 goals against and Madison Kettlewood with three saves and one goal against. The Arrows had 15 shots on goal compared to Lake Erie's 26 for the day.
 
The Arrows take on Walsh University in their next game on Thursday, April 14th at 5:00 pm.
