Arrows Fall to Slippery Rock In Final Minute of Play

FIRST QUARTER
  • Ursuline came out strong and led the entire first quarter 20-11.
  • The Arrows had 9 points of turnovers and 7 fast break points. 
  • Ursuline had 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
  • UC shot 50% in the paint compared to Slippery Rock's 31%.
SECOND QUARTER
  • Slippery Rock kicked it into gear in the second quarter and closed the gap outscoring the Arrows 18-13.
  • The Rock went on a seven point unanswered run.
  • Madison Cloonan had 10 rebounds, 9 points and 2 steals in the first half.
THIRD QUARTER
  • The Arrows pushed back after the break and led the entire third quarter. 
  • UC had their largest lead of 9 points a minute into the half. 
  • UC went 7-17 from the field compared the LSS shooting 5-14.
  • The Arrows outscored 17-15 to lead 50-44.
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Slippery Rock once again fought back and outscored Ursuline 22-12.  
  • They took a one point lead with 27 seconds left in the game. 
  • UC had two shots to tie it up but missed both. LSS went on to make three more free throws.
  • Slippery Rock won in the last 30 seconds of the game, 66-62.

"We knew this game would challenge us defensively and love how we responded to start the game. We had the lead until the final 30 seconds and it definitely hurts to lose a game that way. We struggled to get stops and execute down the stretch in the fourth quarter. Credit to Slippery Rock. They kept fighting and have a talented team. We will learn from it and figure out how to finish those games."
