Five Arrows Score Double Digits in Win Over Findlay

Box Score The Ursuline College basketball team defeated Findlay University in a thrilling 68-62 game on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Arrows built an impressive lead in the first quarter, taking a ten-point lead 13-3 with 5:00 remaining in the quarter. As Findlay attempted to close the gap, Ursuline's defense held strong and rattled off four-fast break points off two defensive plays from Patience Ashaolu. UC finished the first quarter outshooting the Oilers 24-14.

The Oilers fought back early in the second quarter and cut the deficit to 26-25 at the 6:18 mark. The Arrows fired off 12 unanswered points in the next four minutes of play to bring their lead back. Findlay, once again, battled back for their own series of eight unanswered points.

Despite UF outshooting UC 19-14 in the second quarter, the Arrows held a five-point edge going into the break 38-33.

Freshman, Riley Stopp, set the pace of the second half firing off a layup and three pointer to start the quarter. The Arrows held the lead they built the entire third quarter with a total team effort. They went into the final quarter of play with a six-point lead, 50-44.

Ursuline held Findlay scoreless for four minutes of play to open up the fourth quarter, building their lead to 10. The Oilers picked up the action with five minutes remaining in the game and both teams battled in back-and-forth action.

With 17 seconds left of play, Findlay brought the gap down to just two points before Ashaolu finished the game with four made free throws. Ursuline finished with 68-62 win.

The Arrows had five athletes shoot double-digits in the game. Rebekah Green had 16 points and three steals while Stopp added 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 2-of-4 from the three-point line. Ashaolu added 12 points to go along with two blocks and Michaela Cloonan dished out 10 assists in addition to her 11 points. Madison Cloonan had a career-high of 15 rebounds with her 10 points. 
 
The Arrows will travel to Cedarville on Thursday to take on the Yellow Jackets for the first time this season. Tune in at 5:30 pm to catch your Arrows back in action.
