The Ursuline College basketball team erased a five-point deficit in the final :30 seconds to earn their first win of the season on the road against Findlay on Thursday night.
The Oilers and Arrows traded baskets in the early going of the contest before a three-pointer from freshman
Michaela Cloonan and a pair of jumpers from freshman
Madison Cloonan sparked a 7-0 Ursuline run to take a 13-8 advantage with 5:55 to play in the first.

Ursuline led 22-20 after the first quarter.

The strong shooting from the three-point line continued in the second quarter when sophomore
Alyssa Evans buried a three to put the Arrows in front 39-33 with 2:13 remaining in the first half. Ursuline shot 7-for-15 from the floor in the second quarter while holding Findlay to 5-for-18 from the field.

The Arrows outscored the Oilers 23-16 in the quarter and held a 43-36 lead at the break.

Ursuline's marksmanship from deep continued to start the third quarter when Evans hit back-to-back triples in the opening minute of the third quarter to push the lead out to 13 at 49-36.
Michaela Cloonan continued the three-point barrage for the Arrows to extend the lead to 52-36 with 8:29 to play in the period.

Findlay chipped away at the lead but the Arrows closed the quarter with a 64-57 lead going to the final ten minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Findlay took their first lead of the game since the opening frame at 66-64 and extended it out to 71-65 before sophomore
Tamara Mathis hit a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down on the left wing to make it 71-68. Mathis then finished a layup off a steal to cut the deficit to one at 71-70 with just over five minutes to play.

Leading 77-73, Findlay spilt a pair of free throws that led to
Michaela Cloonan connected on a three-pointer off a pass from junior Bekah Green to make it 77-76 with :36 seconds remaining.
Madison Cloonan forced a steal of the ensuing in bounds pass by the Oilers that led to a 15-foot jump shot from Evans that put the Arrows in front 78-77 with 14.4 remaining.

The Arrows defense held off Findlay on back-to-back out of bounds plays to pick up the road victory.

Ursuline shot 41 percent (29-for-70) from the floor and were a season-best 10-for-26 from the three-point line while Findlay finished the game 28-of-66 from the floor and 9-for-20 from deep. Both teams were 12-for-15 from the free throw line. Despite a size advantage, the Arrows were narrowly edged 40-39 on the boards.

The Arrows finished a season-best 19 assists on 29 field goals and had a season-high 11 blocks. The 12 turnovers were the fewest for Ursuline through the first four games.

Ursuline was paced by 22 points from Evans who was 8-for-16 from the field and 4-for-9 from the arc while
Michaela Cloonan finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double on the season.
Madison Cloonan added 13 points and nine rebounds and two steals while Mathis finished with 12 points and Mattimore added 11.

Ursuline will close out 2020 on the road with a trip to Michigan on Saturday to take on Hillsdale in a 1:00 PM tip off. Spectators are not permitted due to COVID-19 restrictions but the game can be seen live on the Great Midwest Digital Network. Â
