The Ursuline College basketball team earned a tough road 87-81 road victory over Hillsdale on Thursday night behind five players scoring in double figures.

The Arrows trailed 7-4 in the opening three minutes of the game before junior
Sam Jenkins scored back-to-back baskets to put Ursuline back in front 8-7 with 5:09 to play in the opening quarter.

The two teams traded baskets over the next few minutes before freshman
Alyssa Evans buried a three-pointer to make it 15-12 in favor of Ursuline with 2:44 to play. The Chargers closed the quarter on an 10-5 run to take a two-point lead after one.

Senior
Ky Crevison got the offense started in the second quarter with a three-pointer just two minutes in and Evans followed with her second three of the game to put Ursuline in front 28-25. Evans scored again on a layup and freshman
Aubrie Marsh added a traditional three-point play to extend the lead to eight at 33-25.

The Arrows lead reached as many as 14 in the second quarter as they outscored the Chargers 27-16 in the frame to take a 47-38 lead into the intermission.

In the fourth quarter, Hillsdale tied the game 77-77 with 3:21 to play before Evans split a pair of free throws to put Ursuline back in front. Sophomore
Katrina Scheuvront scored in the paint to extend the lead to 80-77 with 2:15 to play. Jenkins put the game out of reach with a jumper with :45 seconds remaining to seal the Ursuline win.

Ursuline shot 53 percent (17-of-33) from the field and were 17-of-25 from the free throw line while Hillsdale shot 37 percent (11-of-34) from the field and were a perfect 17-of-17 from the line. The Arrows were 4-of-12 from the three-point line while Hillsdale was 12-of-35 from deep.

Hillsdale outrebounded Ursuline 41-36 but the Arrows won the turnover battle 15-13 and picked up eight steals.

The Arrows had five players in double figures paced by Evans who led the team with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the arc. Marsh finished with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds while freshman
Tamara Mathis and sophomore Bekah Green each had 12 points and Crevison added 10.

The Arrows remain on the road on Saturday as they travel to Findlay to take on the Oilers in another key Great Midwest match-up. The Oilers defeated Lake Erie 82-74 on Thursday and currently are 3-1 in conference play.
