The Ursuline College volleyball team will continue its season opening road trip with a weekend in Detroit, Michigan starting on Friday morning at the Wayne State Warrior Invitational.

The Arrows will face familiar Great Midwest foe Malone in the opening match of the weekend on Friday at 10:00 AM. Malone had won the previous four meetings between the two schools before Ursuline took a 3-1 victory last October.

In the win, senior Angie Zamora tied for a match-high with 14 kills while fellow senior
Vikki Henderson added 11 and sophomore
Hannah Hottinger added 10. Henderson added 15 digs while junior
Zoe Skinner had 14.

In their second match of the day on Friday, Ursuline will take on the host Wayne State at 2:30 PM. The two teams have met just one previous time back in 2015 when the Warriors won on their home floor in three sets.

Ursuline will have a pair of matches on Saturday starting at 9:00 AM when they face off against Southern Indiana. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs. The weekend concludes with a match-up against Missouri-St. Louis at 3:45 PM.

The Trojans won the previous meeting back in 2015 as part of the GMAC/GLVC/GLIAC Crossover tournament.

During the opening weekend tournament at Daemen, sophomore setter
Regan Nickol earned All-Tournament Team honors after picking up 74 assists (6.73 per set) in the three matches. Henderson led the team with 26 kills (2.36 per set) while freshman
Devin Gerth had 14 kills over the three matches in her first collegiate action.

Ursuline opens the home portion of the 2019 schedule on Friday, September 20 when they will host Urbana at 6:00 PM.
