Mitchell's Two Goals Lead Arrows Comeback at West Liberty

The Ursuline College soccer team picked up a come-from-behind road victory on Tuesday evening after defeating West Liberty 2-1.

The Hilltoppers got on the board in the 29th minute when Sonata Beasley scored her first goal of the season from just outside the box to make it 1-0.

West Liberty held a 1-0 advantage at the intermission and outshot the Arrows 6-3 in the first half.

Ursuline's offense picked up in the second half and got on the board when senior Sarah Mitchell converted a penalty kick for the first goal of the season to even the match 1-1.

In the 68th minute, Mitchell struck again with the go-ahead goal from outside the six-yard box.

It marked the first multi-goal game for Mitchell in her career and matched her total goals scored from last season.

Junior goalkeeper Gina Cerny notched five saves in her first victory of the season.

Freshman Hannah Pickens led the Arrows with four shots while sophomore Dominique Buddenhagen had three attempts on goal.

Ursuline will have an extended break as they prepare for Great Midwest play on September 21 with a trip to Lake Erie College. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM and will be covered live on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
