The Ursuline College softball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Davis & Elkins College on Wednesday afternoon in Pepper Pike.

The Arrows grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when an unearned run allowed senior
Leah Leshnack to score. Davis & Elkins answered back with three runs in the top of the second inning and added a pair of runs in the fourth inning to build a 5-1 lead.

Ursuline's offense got started with a base hit from senior
Alison Hughes and a double from senior
Sadie Jones to put two runners in scoring position for junior
Brooklyn Miller who doubled over the head of the center fielder to score a pair of runs to make it 5-3.

Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Ursuline rallied once again. Hughes started the inning with a double down the left field line and jones drove her in with her second hit of the game to make it 5-4. With two outs, freshman
Nicole Rawlings singled to left field to score Jones and tie the game 5-5.

After the Senators scored a run in the top of the eight to take a 6-5 lead, Ursuline stormed back in dramatic fashion in the home half of the inning. Freshman Adrianna Nicpon and senior
Karlie Wilbur picked up back-to-back singles with one out before Leshnack delivered a three-run walk-off home run over the left field fence to give Ursuline the 8-6 win.

Jones picked up the win with 6 2/3 innings of relief work while allowing three runs, two of which were earned while striking out three and walking one. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs and drove in one.

In game two, the Arrows offense picked up where it left off to end the first game. Leshnack drew a lead-off walk and Jones followed with her fourth hit of the day to put runners on the corners. Miller executed a sacrifice fly to score Leshnack and Rawlings picked up an RBI single to make it 2-0.

After adding a run in the second inning, Ursuline tacked on three more in the fourth. Wilbur started the inning with an infield single and Hughes was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. Leshnack followed with a single to center field to score Wilbur to make it 4-1. Miller reached on a base hit and senior
Hannah Trent drove in a pair of runs with a base hit to make it 6-1.

Rawlings picked up her third win of the season with a complete game while allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven and walking just one. She picked up a pair of hits at the plate and drove in a run to help her cause.

Ursuline will host Cedarville University on Friday afternoon for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM. Â
