The Ursuline College softball team swept visiting Findlay on Saturday afternoon in a key Great Midwest doubleheader match-up.

Ursuline jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after freshman
Nicole Rawlings drove in a pair of runs with a base hit. Senior
Leah Leshnack started the inning with an infield single and senior
Sadie Jones followed with a base hit. Junior
Brooklyn Miller picked up the third straight hit of the inning with a base hit to right to lead the bases.

Rawlings connected on a base hit to right field to score Leshnack to make it 1-0. Senior
Hannah Trent delivered the fourth hit of the inning to score Jones and make it 2-0.

Leading 2-1, Ursuline tacked on a run in the third inning after Rawlings picked up her second hit of the game and senior
Karlie Wilbur laced a single through the left side to make it 3-1.

Findlay's offense used a four-run fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead that stood until the Arrows got an unearned run in the sixth inning to make it 5-4.

Trailing 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning the Arrows channeled their inning heroics for the third time of the week. Rawlings started the inning with a double over the head of the center fielder and Wilbur followed with a base hit. Trent added the third hit of the inning to load the bases and senior
Alison Hughes connected with a two-run single to make it 6-6.

With the bases loaded, Leshnack drew a walk to score pinch runner
Matyson Michalski to give the Arrows a 7-6 win.

Miller picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief work in which she allowed one run on three hits while striking out three.

Rawlings and Wilbur both went 3-for-4 at the plate in game one for Ursuline.

In game two, the pitchers from both sides controlled the first seven innings of the game.

Senior
Paige Salisbury started the inning with a pinch-hit single and Leshnack reached out a fielder's choice. After an intentionally walk to Miller, Wilbur came through with a base hit through the left side to score Salisbury to give the Arrows a 1-0 win.

Rawlings started the game and did not allow a run on one hit over 3 2/3 innings while striking out four. Miller picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief while also allowing one hit while striking out six.

Ursuline is scheduled to host Lake Erie College in a make-up game on Tuesday at 3:00 PM.
