The Ursuline College softball team finished its four-game Florida trip with a split of a doubleheader over Florida Southern College in Lakeland on Monday evening.

The Mocs scored single runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings to build a 3-0 lead before Ursuline got on the board in the fifth inning.

Freshman
Ashley Buttolph doubled to center field to score freshman
Matyson Michalski who drew a one-out walk. Junior
Brooklyn Miller singled and Buttolph scored after a fielding miscue by the Florida Southern defense to make it 3-2.

Florida Southern got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning to go onto win game one 5-2.

Miller took the loss in 3 1/3 inning of work after allowing three runs on four hits while walking four and striking out two.

The Arrows offense got on track in the fourth of a scoreless game two. Miller started the inning with a base hit up the middle and advanced to third on a double to right center by senior
Leah Leshnack. With two runners in scoring position, senior
Karlie Wilbur tripled over the head of the center fielder to plate the first two runs of the game for Ursuline.

Hannah Trent followed with a base hit down the left field line to score Wilbur and make it 3-0. Senior
Alison Hughes followed with a double to left field, but Trent was thrown out at the plate. Michalski reached on a throwing error by the short stop and Hughes came into score to make it 4-0. Buttolph tripled down the left field line to score Michalski to make it 5-0.

Florida Southern got a run across in the home half of the sixth and seventh inning.

Buttolph finished 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI while Leshnack was also 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Senior
Sadie Jones pitched a complete game and allowed two runs, one of which were earned while striking out one and walking one to pick up her first win of the season.

Ursuline will travel to Nashville, Tennessee on February 15 to play in the Music City Invitational.
