The Ursuline College softball team dropped a pair of games in their season opener to the University of Tampa on Sunday afternoon in Tampa, Florida.
Tampa won the first game by a score of 8-0 and took the second game 6-0.
In game one, the Spartans jumped on Arrows starter
Sadie Jones in the bottom of the first inning by scoring four runs. Ursuline picked up its first hit of the game in the fourth inning when junior
Brooklyn Miller doubled to left field but was stranded at second base.
Jones (0-1) took the loss after allowing eight runs, four of which were earned in five innings of work. She did not record a strikeout and only issued one walk.
In game two, Miller held a tough Tampa offense in check for the first three innings before allowing four runs in the home half of the fourth inning.
At the plate, Miller contributed two of the four Ursuline hits and senior

Ursuline remains in Florida as they travel to Florida Southern on Monday evening for a doubleheader starting at 6:00pm.
