Ursuline Game Notes vs. Quincy
The Ursuline College basketball team will travel to Quincy, Illinois this weekend to open the 2019-20 season in the GLVC/Great Midwest Challenge.

The Arrows will open the weekend on Saturday afternoon against the host Quincy in the two program's first-ever meeting. It will also be the first match-up with any GLVC team for Ursuline.

Quincy was picked to finish 16
th in the GLVC in the preseason coaches' poll that was released prior to the season but then picked up a surprising 70-65 victory over Division 1 Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Tuesday night.

The Hawks return their leading scorer in junior Maddie Spagnola who averaged 12.4 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds. Also returning is junior Aleksandra Petrovic who averaged 8.6 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the three-point line.

Quincy finished 5-22 last season and 3-15 in the GLVC under ninth year head coach Jeni Garber who led the team to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2015-16 after going 25-6 and 14-4 in the GLVC.

Ursuline returns three players who saw time in the starting line-up last season led by senior
Julia Cardwell who was the team's leading scorer a season ago. Cardwell averaged 14.6 points per game and was a First Team All-Conference selection after finishing in the top five in scoring in the league. She shot 45 percent from the field and was a 38 percent shooter from beyond-the-arc. Her 80 percent free throw clip (84-105) led the team.

Senior
Ky Crevison averaged 8.2 points per game and was second on the team in assists. Crevison led the team in three-point makes with 48 and shot 36 percent from deep last season.

Sophomore
Rebekah Green averaged 6.9 points per game and started 17 games while seeing action in all 28 games last season. She was fourth on the team in assists with 47 and grabbed 1.9 rebounds per game.

On day two of the event, Ursuline will play Truman State who qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season after posting a 23-8 record and going 13-5 in the GLVC. They lost their first-round match-up to the #3 seed Grand Valley State 89-64.

The Hawks were predicted to finish sixth in the preseason coaches' poll that was released earlier this fall. The 23-wins last season was a school record and return one senior this season in Sloane Totta who averaged 11.4 points per game last season.

In total, Truman State will return seven players who saw time last year and also welcome in a junior transfer from Stephen F. Austin in Brioenne Burns.

Ursuline will open the home porition of the schedule next weekend on Saturday when they host Saginaw Valley State University and then play Lindenwood on Sunday.
