The Ursuline College basketball team nearly erased a 17-point deficit before falling 84-75 to visiting Saginaw Valley State on Saturday afternoon in Pepper Pike.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the third consecutive game, Ursuline was hot from the field in the first quarter as they shot 44 percent and went 3-for-6 from the three-point line but trailed the Cardinals 19-18 after one.

Saginaw opened up their lead by outscoring Ursuline 22-14 in the second quarter to take a 41-32 lead into the break.

After getting outscored 27-17 in the third quarter, Ursuline responded by outscoring the Cardinals 26-16 in the final ten minutes.

Senior
Ky Crevison led Ursuline with 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the fielding including 5-for-9 from the arc.

Sophomore Bekah Green finished with 15 points and dished out five assists while junior
Sam Jenkins added 10 points and two steals.

Julia Cardwell had nine points and had a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Arrows shot 38 percent (23-of-63) from the floor and hit a season-best 13 three-pointers while the Cardinals shot 45 percent (30-for-67) from the floor and 11-of-29 from the three-point line.

SVSU shot 13-of-18 from the free throw line while Ursuline was also 13-of-18. The Cardinals out rebounded the Arrows 47-28 while Ursuline won the turnover battle 14-9.

Ursuline will host Lindenwood University on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM. The Lions defeated Walsh University 75-73 in the late game on Saturday.
