The Ursuline College volleyball team dropped a five-set Great Midwest match to visiting Walsh on Friday night in the Seidman Gymnasium.
The Arrows offense built a 5-1 lead in the first set that was capped off by an ace from sophomore
Zoe Skinner. Ursuline went onto win the first set 25-21 after holding off a late charge from Walsh.
The Cavaliers responded by taking the second set 25-16 and also winning the third set 25-11 to take a 2-1 advantage in the match. Facing a possible elimination set, Ursuline won the fourth set 25-17 to force a fifth and deciding set.
Walsh won the fifth set 15-5 to take the match 3-2.
The Arrows were led by junior
Vikki Henderson who finished with 13 kills while fellow junior Angie Zamora had 12 and sophomore
Hannah Hottinger finished with 11 kills. Henderson and junior
Kassidy Stilwell each finished with 12 digs as did sophomore
Zoe Skinner.
Walsh hit .398 as a team while the Arrows hit .163 as a team despite hitting .344 in the fourth set.
The Arrows will have a quick turnaround as they host Malone University tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. Malone won both meetings between the two schools last season.
