The Ursuline College soccer team opened Great Midwest play with a 2-1 double overtime victory over visiting Malone University on Saturday afternoon in Pepper Pike.

The Arrows fell behind early in the 14
th minute when Malone's Madeline Ault followed a shot up on a rebound that got past Ursuline goalkeeper
Gina Cerny to make it 1-0 in favor of the Pioneers.

Ursuline wasted little time responding when freshman
Theron Ruff found the back of the net for the first time in her career in the 18
th minute to tie the match 1-1.

Despite the Arrows outshooting Malone 32-7 and 19-4 in shots goal, the game remained tied at the end of regulation and through one overtime period.

In the second overtime period, just :43 seconds in, freshman
Odessa Strizzi converted on a pass from junior
Brooke Mahabir for the game winner. Strizzi has scored in each of her first two games as an Arrow and picked up her first game winning goal.

The Arrows also held a 15-2 edge in corner kicks while Cerny finished with three saves.

Ursuline will travel to The University of Findlay on Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm to take on the Oilers.
