The Ursuline College volleyball team split a pair of matches on the road at the Tony Banner Memorial Classic hosted by Clarion University on Friday afternoon.
The Arrows fell to the host Eagles in straight-sets in the opening match of the morning before bouncing back to win in straight-sets over Concord University in the evening contest.
In the second match against Concord, the Arrows responded by building an early 7-2 lead before Concord tied the set up at 9-9 a piece. Ursuline then would score eight of the next 10 points to build a 17-11 advantage before winning the set 25-20.
Ursuline's offense continued its strong performance in the second set by winning 25-19 and sealed the match after holding off a late charge from Concord by winning the third set 25-23.
The Arrows had a season-best 50 kills and hit .242 as a team in the victory. Junior
Vikki Henderson had a match-high 14 kills and hit a season-high .357. She committed just four errors in 28 attempts. She also added seven digs.
Sophomore
Hannah Hottinger was equally as strong as she finished with 12 kills and hit .364. She committed just four errors in 22 attempts and added two blocks.
Freshman
Jami Turay had seven kills while fellow freshman
Nora Clink and junior Angie Zamora each had six kills in a balanced attack from the Arrows.
Junior Kassidy Still well produced a match-high 19 digs while senior
Katelyn Selleny had 43 assists.
The Arrows will play two more matches on Saturday beginning with a tough-test against #16 ranked Gannon University at 11:30am. Gannon advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2017 and is 6-1 on the season. The Arrows wil conclude play with a 2:00pm match against Millersville University.
