HOW IT HAPPENED
Ursuline's offense bounced back in a big way after scoring a season-low 54 points on Thursday at Cedarville. The Arrows scored 21 points in the first quarter highlighted by three makes from behind the three-point line to take a 21-19 lead after the first ten minutes.
It was the Arrows defense that controlled the second quarter after four ties and several lead changes in the opening period. A layup from senior
Laney Lewis sparked a 10-0 run to start the quarter. Sophomore
Morgan Mattimore followed with a jumper as did senior
Camryn Hill to make it 27-19 with 8:21 to play in the half.
Lewis and Salisbury connected on back-to-back jumpers and Lewis capped the run with a layup at the 6:15 mark to make it 33-22. The Arrows took a 42-32 lead into the intermission.
Ursuline built a 20-point advantage in the fourth quarter before closing out Ohio Dominican in the final quarter.
ANOTHER ONE
Senior
Laney Lewis set an NCAA single-season record by recording her fourth triple-double of the season. The senior finished with 21 points, 10 assists and 17 rebounds in 36 minutes of action.
Lewis has missed a triple-double by one assist on three different occasions while she has also finished twice with eight assists.
FRONT COURT STRONG
The Arrows front court combo of Lewis and Hill was once again dominating for the Arrows. The duo combined for 40 points on 18-for-31 from the floor and had a combined 24 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Hill finished the game with 19 points and seven boards while blocking three shots and grabbing two steals and blocking three shots while Lewis had 21 points and finished with two blocks.
Ursuline outscored Ohio Dominican 40-20 in the paint on the afternoon.
LEATHAL FROM DEEP
Sophomore sharpshooter
Carly Koncz scored a season-high 15 points while knocking down 3-for-5 from behind the arc. Overall, she finished 5-for-8 from the floor and pulled down six rebounds.
The Arrows finished the game 7-for-23 from behind the three-point line.
THE SCENARIO
With two regular season games remaining, Ursuline is tied with Cedarville in the Great Midwest standings.
The Yellow Jackets would get the hosting responsibilities via a tie-breaker if both teams win their games respective games this week.
Cedarville will host Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins while Ursuline will host Malone and Walsh.
The Yellow Jackets narrowly escaped defeat the last time they matched up with the Senators on a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Ursuline defeated Walsh the last time the two teams met in North Canton, but fell to Malone in the same week.
The winner of the Great Midwest tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
