The Ursuline College basketball team will open the 2018-19 home portion of its schedule on Tuesday evening, November 20 when they host Mercyhurst.
Â
The Arrows are coming off a tough road loss at West Liberty last week 72-68 after Ursuline rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter.
Â
Ursuline was paced by a career-high 19 points from junior
Julia Cardwell who went 8-for-16 from the floor and also grabbed six rebounds. Freshman
Bekah Green added a season-high 15 points and was 11-of-13 from the free throw line.
Â
Mercyhurst opened the season with a three-game losing streak after falling to the University of Charleston and West Liberty on the opening weekend and then lost on the road 74-67 to Daemen College.
Â
The Lakers notched their first win of the season in dramatic fashion 78-76 over fellow Great Midwest school Walsh University on Saturday. Maria Lapertosa finished with 22 points and Eliza Oswalt added 19 to pace four in double-figures for Mercyhurst.
Â
This will mark the fifth all-time beating between the two schools with the road team each winning in the previous four meetings. Ursuline defeated Mercyhurst last season 68-58 in Erie while the Lakers won in December of 2016 73-63 in Pepper Pike.
Â
Tuesday will start a stretch of five-straight at home for Ursuline that will continue with Sunday's match-up against Northwood at 2:00 PM.
