Ursuline Bounces Back With 76-59 win over Walsh on Thursday

Box Score HOW IT HAPPENED

After Walsh pulled to within two at 8-6 with 6:05 remaining in the first quarter, Ursuline closed the quarter on a 12-2 run sparked by a layup from senior Laney Lewis and a three-pointer from sophomore Ky Crevison.

Back-to-back makes from Lewis and senior Camryn Hill made it 15-8 with just under two minutes to play in the opening quarter and Morgan Mattimore beat the first quarter buzzer with a shot from just inside half court to make it 20-8.

Ursuline's hot start from the three-point line continued in the second quarter when sophomore Carly Koncz connected from deep to make it 25-11 with 8:41 to play in the half. Koncz buried another triple a minute later to push the lad to 15.

The Arrows biggest lead of the half came in the final minute when sophomore Julia Cardwell made a three-pointer on a pass from Lewis to make it 41-22.

FROM BEHIND THE ARC

The Arrows were 4-for-6 from behind-the-arc in the first quarter with four different players hitting three-point shots.

Ursuline finished the first half 7-for-13 from three led by Koncz who was 3-for-4.

STAT SHEET STUFFER

Lewis, the two-time G-MAC Player of the Year, continued to stuff the stat sheet with 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Lewis added five steals and three blocked shots to her line.

Lewis has posted two-triple doubles this season and has missed a triple-double by three assists or less on four different occasions. She has now scored double-figures in 34 consecutive games and has had six games with 20 or more points during that stretch. The 26 points was one shy of her season high.

CRASHING THE BOARDS

Ursuline bounced back on the boards after the loss to Hillsdale as they edged Walsh 45-28 on the glass. The Arrows had 17 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second chance points.

DOMINATING THE PAINT

The Arrows outscored Walsh 36-22 in the paint led by Lewis who was 11-for-15 on shots 15 feet and in. Sophomore Morgan Mattimore was 6-for-11 from the floor with nine of her shots coming at the rim.

PERFECT FROM THE LINE

Ursuline only shot five free-throws in the game and made all five of their attempts. The two teams combined for just 19 fouls and attempted a total of 16 free throws.

UP NEXT

Ursuline will travel back to Canton on Saturday for a re-match with Malone from last year's G-MAC Championship game.
