The Ursuline College volleyball team picked up its first Great Midwest win of the season in a thrilling five set home match against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon.
The Arrows opened the match with a 25-20 win in the first set after jumping out to a 5-2 lead capped off by an ace from sophomore
Jill Morrow. Ursuline extended the lead to 9-3 after back-to-back kills from sophomore
Vikki Henderson.
The Battlers responded by winning the second set by the same 25-20 margin to even the match one set a piece. Alderson Broaddus took a 2-1 advantage after winning the third set 25-21.
Ursuline forced a fifth and deciding set by winning the fourth game 25-17 before closing the match in convincing fashion with a 15-3 win in the fifth.
The Arrows won an early non-conference match against Alderson Broaddus last weekend at the Shepherd Showdown.
Henderson finished by tying her season-high with 19 kills while freshman
Jessie Lee added 10 and Morrow chipped in eight. Junior
Katelyn Selleny had 43 assists while Morrow added three blocks for Ursuline.
The Arrows remain home on Tuesday night when they host Lake Erie College at 7pm. The Storm has won six straight, including a 3-0 mark in the G-MAC.
