The Ursuline College softball team concluded the PFX Spring Games by winning two of three games on Saturday in Clermont, Florida.

The Arrows defeated the University of Mary 3-2 in eight innings and shutout crosstown rival Notre Dame 7-0 in the second game. Ursuline fell to Mount Vernon 2-0 in the final game to finish the weekend 4-1.

Game One vs. University of Mary (ND.)

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning, Ursuline got their offense started in the home half of the second inning. Senior
Brigitte Snow and junior
Rosie Lyard drew back-to-back walks and senior
Carly Hoffner followed with a base hit to load the bases. Junior
Gina Rosshirt reached on a fielder's choice to score Snow and make it 2-1.

In the bottom of the third, freshman
Ellise Presutto picked up a single to start the inning followed by a base hit from sophomore
Sadie Jones. Senior
Brittany Humbel got the Arrows third straight hit of the inning to score Presutto and tie the game 2-2.

With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Humbel was placed on second base and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Snow. Lyard reached on an error that allowed Humbel to score the game winning run for Ursuline.

Humbel picked up the win with six innings of scoreless relief work by allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Game Two vs. Notre Dame College

The Arrows wasted little time jumping on the Falcons in the top of the first inning. Senior
Kaitlin Krajcik continued her hot start to the season with a leadoff single and Presutto drew a walk to put two on with no outs. Jones followed with another base hit and Humbel drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.

Snow delivered a one-out double to left field to score both Jones and Presutto making it 3-0. Lyard then connected on a two-run home run to center to make it 5-0 after one inning.

Snow added two more RBI including a base hit in the second inning and a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Arrows outhit the Falcons 9-3 in the contest.

Rosshirt pitched a complete game shutout to pick up the win while allowing just three hits and striking out two.

In total, Rosshirt pitched 17 innings on the weekend while allowing just two runs and 13 hits while striking out nine.
Â
The Arrows will travel to Salem, Virginia next weekend to participate in the Salem Tournament.
