The Ursuline College basketball team will look to secure its second straight G-MAC Regular Season Championship on Saturday against with a tough road test at Davis & Elkins.
Ursuline is coming off a one-sided 100-47 win on the road at Alderson Broaddus on Thursday while Davis & Elkins battled second place Malone down to the buzzer in a 77-72 loss.
The Arrows had six players score in double-figures in their win led by junior
Camryn Hill who finished with 18 points and senior
Erica Huber who finished with 16 points. Freshman
Carly Koncz added a career-high 15 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting from behind-the-arc.
The Senators held a 19-10 lead after one quarter against Malone before the Pioneers outscored Davis & Elkins 24-11 in the second. The Senators finished with three players in double figures led by senior guard Stephanie Wooten who had 16 points while Aliyah Dukes finished with 13 and Sydney Turner added 10 points.
Ursuline and Davis & Elkins are the two top scoring offenses in the G-MAC averaging 78.4 and 78.2 points respectively. At home this season, the Senators have been one of the league's toughest teams posting an 8-3 record.
Wooten currently leads the G-MAC in scoring at 21.5 points per game while Ursuline's
Laney Lewis is third at 15.5 points per night. Lewis also leads the conference in rebounding at 12.0.
Since starting the season 6-5, and returning from Hawaii, Ursuline has won 14 straight games including 11 in a row in the G-MAC. Offensively, the Arrows are averaging 81.1 points per game during that stretch while allowing just 58 points per game. As a team, Ursuline is shooting 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc during the winning streak.
The Arrows will return home on Wednesday to face non-conference Bluefield State on Senior Night at 5:30 PM. Ursuline will play their final regular season game on Saturday, February 25 at Malone in a 7:00 PM tip off.Â
