Great Midwest Athletic Conference play will heat up on Thursday, January 12 as defending champion Ursuline College will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM CST/6:30 PM EST.
The Panthers enter play as the league's hottest team, winning 11 of their first 12 games, which is one-win shy of the 12 straight that Ursuline won a year ago. The Panthers lone loss came on opening weekend 75-72 in overtime to #12 ranked Drury.Â

Kentucky Wesleyan defeated Ohio Valley (73-60) and Cedarville (77-72) during the opening week of conference play while Ursuline notched victories over Davis & Elkins (92-72) and Alderson Broaddus (83-66).

The Arrows and Panthers spilt the regular season series last year with each team winning on the other's home floor. Kentucky Wesleyan erased a fourth-quarter deficit and forced overtime as they picked up a 76-75 win in Pepper Pike.

Despite shooting 3-for-25 from behind-the-arc in Owensboro, Ursuline prevailed 70-58 in the second meeting of the year. Sophomore
Brigan Wymer poured in 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor while redshirt junior
Laney Lewis added 16 points and 15 boards and shot an efficient 8-for-11 from the field.

The match-up will feature the second and third leading scorers in the G-MAC in Kentucky Wesleyan's Brittany Wells and Lewis for Ursuline. Wells is averaging 20.5 points per game while Lewis is putting in 15.7 per contest. Lewis is also averaging 12.2 rebounds per game and has posted a league-high nine double-doubles. She is also the second leading rebounder in the NCAA after last week.Â

The Arrows are the second highest scoring team in the league behind Davis & Elkins at 76.8 points per game while the Panthers enter play Thursday averaging 73.2 points per night. Both teams have played solid defense through the first part of the season with the Panthers allowing 62.1 points a game while Ursuline has given up 66.5.
