Arrows Seek Seventh Straight Win on Thursday at OVU

The Ursuline College basketball team will be on the road for two important G-MAC games this week starting on Thursday against Ohio Valley.

Following Thursday's contest in West Virginia, the Arrows will travel to Cedarville for a re-match of last year's G-MAC Tournament Championship game with the Yellow Jackets.

Ursuline, which has won six straight games, is coming off road wins over Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene last week to improve to 4-0 in the G-MAC.

Ohio Valley enters play on a six-game losing streak including four straight in the G-MAC. The Fighting Scots fell 88-59 to Davis & Elkins and 85-56 to Alderson Broaddus with both games on the road.

The Scots are led by Shicole Watts who is averaging 16.9 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds. Cydney Franklin is averaging 11.8 points per game and Jayln Gilbert rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.2 points per night.

As a team, Ohio Valley is averaging 59.2 points per game but allow 72.3 points per game on the defensive end.

The Arrows won last year in West Virginia 84-53 and at home 72-48. Ursuline shot 52 percent in Vienna last season and were led by Laney Lewis who finished with 18 points and Erica Huber who added 16 while Camryn Hill finished with 15. Lewis also pulled down 16 rebounds.

Ursuline has won three-straight in the overall series dating back to a 62-53 Ohio Valley win during the 2014-15 season.

The road trip concludes on Saturday with a trip to Cedarville to take on the Yellow Jackets in the first meeting between the two schools that played for the G-MAC Championship last season. The Arrows edged the Yellow Jackets 72-65 in the championship game last March and earned the G-MAC's first-ever NCAA automatic bid.

Cedarville will host Malone on Thursday evening as the Pioneers are the only other team besides Ursuline that remains unbeaten in league play this year. The Yellow Jackets are currently 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in the G-MAC.
