The Ursuline College softball team dropped a pair of road games at Salem International University on Saturday afternoon. The Arrows fell in game one 5-2 and 3-2 in the second game.

The Arrows took a first inning lead in game one by taking advantage of a Tigers miscue. Junior
Brigitte Snow started things off with a single and senior
Alison Porter reached on a throwing error. Junior
Brittany Humbel also reached on an error and Snow scored to make it 1-0.

Salem came back and took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with two runs. Ursuline responded in the top of the second after sophomore
Gina Rosshirt drove in sophomore
Leah Leshnack who also singled to tie the game 2-2.

The Tigers pulled away in the bottom of the sixth inning after they loaded the bases and pushed across three runs to take a 5-2 lead.

Rosshirt (3-7) took the loss in six innings of work while allowing five runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked three.

In game two, Ursuline fell behind 1-0 before the offense broke through in the fourth inning. Humbel started the inning with a single and came around to score on a bunt from senior
Danielle Almodiel to tie the game 1-1. Junior
Carly Hoffner followed with an RBI single to score freshman
Sadie Jones and the Arrows took a 2-1 lead.

The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 3-2 which proved to be the difference. Ursuline stranded eight runners on base in the second game.

Humbel (4-4) took the loss in six innings of work while allowing three runs, two of which were earned while striking out eight and walking six.

Ursuline will travel to Cedarville on Wednesday for a pair of games with the Yellow Jackets.
