The win was the eight straight for Ursuline and moved them into first-place with Cedarville headed into the final week of the regular season. The Arrows were led by redshirt sophomore
Laney Lewis who finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting. Junior
Erica Huber finished with 16 points and freshman
Natalie Koenig added 10.
Davis & Elkins fell 100-92 in a double overtime thriller at Trevecca on Saturday. Stephanie Wooten finished with 24 points on 8-for-30 from the field and was 6-for-21 from behind the arc. Sydney Turner finished with 23 points and was 7-for-11 from three-point territory.
SCOUTING URSULINE Through 24 games, the Arrows are ranked as the fifth highest scoring offense in the country at 84.0 points per game.
Ursuline is also ranked third in the conference in defense by allowing 61.8 points per game.
Ursuline has five players averaging double figures this season led by sophomore
Camryn Hill who is averaging 14.9 points per game and 9.2 rebounds. Junior
Erica Huber is averaging 13.4 points per contest while redshirt sophomore
Laney Lewis is averaging 12.8 points per night along with 11.0 rebounds. The freshman duo of
Brigan Wymer and
Natalie Koenig who are scoring 14.5 and 12.1 points respectively.
SCOUTING DAVIS & ELKINS The Senators feature the G-MAC's leading scorer in sophomore guard Stephanie Wooten who is averaging 19.4 points per game. On the season, Davis & Elkins is averaging 67.5 points per game while allowing 71.3 points.
LAST MEETING Ursuline ran out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and did not look back in a 91-55 victory in late-January in Pepper Pike. Freshman
Natalie Koenig led Ursuline with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting while sophomore
Camryn Hill finished with 18 points and
Erica Huber added 12.
The Arrows shot 42 percent from the field while holding the Senators to 33 percent shooting and just 5-for-20 from behind-the-arc.
HOME SWEET HOME Ursuline has been nearly unbeatable in their new facility this season. The Arrows are 12-2 in the Seidman Gymnasium this season. The Arrows have scored 100 points or more five times at home and are averaging 87.7 points per game at home.
The Arrows have been equally as strong on the road with a 8-1 mark away from Pepper Pike. On the road, Ursuline is averaging 73.6 points per game.
CHASING 1,000 Ursuline junior
Erica Huber is five points away from scoring 1,000 points in her career. She would be the fifth person in school history to score reach the feat. Jessica Wood is the school's all-time leading scorer at 1,627 points in her career from 2005 through 2009.
CONFERENCE RECOGNITION Ursuline has had three different players recognized a total of five times as the G-MAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week. Sophomore
Camryn Hill has won the award three different times, freshman
Brigan Wymer was named the winner last week and redshirt sophomore
Laney Lewis has won the award the last two weeks.
Hill was also named the USBWA Division II National Player of the Week and senior
Raven-Symone Nelson took home the Hero Sports Hero of the Week Award earlier this season.
LEAGUE LEADERS The Arrows have several members of the team among the top of the G-MAC league leaders entering the final three regular season games. Sophomore
Camryn Hill is second in the league in scoring at 14.9 points per game while
Laney Lewis (11rpg) and Hill are one and two respectively in the conference in rebounding. Freshman
Christiana Jefferson is second in the league in assists per game at 4.6 and also leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Lewis leads the conference in blocked shots with 2.0 blocks per game and Hill is second with 1.4.
RECORD SETTING SEASON The Arrows have far surpassed the prior school record of 15 wins set during the 2006-07 season. The 84.4 points per game average is also the most points averaged in a season in school history as well.
POST SEASON IMPLICATIONS The Arrows enter play tonight in a first-place tie with Cedarville in the G-MAC standings. The Arrows hold the tie-break if the two teams finish with the same record and would host the tournament next week.
NEXT UP The Arrows conclude the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Philippi, West Virginia to take on the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus. Ursuline won the first match-up of the season 96-66.
