LAST TIME OUTUrsuline moved into sole possession of second place in the G-MAC with a 70-58 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan last Saturday. The win capped off a 2-0 road trip that also included a 95-53 win at Trevecca Nazarene. The Arrows were led on Saturday by freshman
Brigan Wymer who finished with 18 points on 8-for-16 from the floor and redshirt sophomore
Laney Lewis who finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds and also had five blocked shots in 28 minutes.
Ohio Valley has lost six straight games including a 73-64 loss against Salem International last Saturday. The Fighting Scots were led by Faith Miller who finished with 18 points and Charday Pitts who had 11 points and eight rebounds.
SCOUTING URSULINE Through 21 games, the Arrows are ranked as the fifth highest scoring offense in the country at 84.2 points per game.
Ursuline is also ranked third in the conference in defense by allowing 61.8 points per game.
Ursuline has five players averaging double figures this season led by sophomore
Camryn Hill who is averaging 15.7 points per game and 8.8 rebounds. Junior
Erica Huber is averaging 13.5 points per contest while redshirt sophomore
Laney Lewis is averaging 12.3 points per night along with 10.4 rebounds. The freshman duo of
Brigan Wymer and
Natalie Koenig who are scoring 14.4 and 11.9 points respectively.
SCOUTING OHIO VALLEY The Scots are led by Shicole Watts who is averaging 17.7 points per game along with 9.4 rebounds and Faith Miller who is averaging 12.4 points per game.
Ohio Valley is averaging 60.0 points per game as a team while allowing 71.0 points per night.
HOME SWEET HOME Ursuline has been nearly unbeatable in their new facility this season. The Arrows are 11-2 in the Seidman Gymnasium this season, with the lone loss coming in overtime at the buzzer against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Arrows have scored 100 points or more four times at home and are averaging 87.7 points per game at home.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS The win against Bluefield State set numerous school and G-MAC records. The 128 points was the most scored in a NCAA Division II game this season and the 21 made three's tied for the fourth most of any team this season.
The Arrows also had a conference-best 36 assists. The 14
th win of the season for Ursuline matched the most wins since the 2013-14 season and are one shy of tying the most wins in school history.
LAST MEETING Ursuline defeated Ohio Valley 84-53 in Vienna, West Virginia in early January. The Arrows were led by
Laney Lewis who had 18 points on 6-for-7 shooting including 3-for-3 from three. She also had seven blocks and four assists. Freshman
Natalie Koenig finished with 17 points while
Erica Huber added 15 points and
Camryn Hill had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
SPREADING THE WEALTH The Arrows lead the conference in sharing the basketball through the first 17 games. Ursuline is averaging 16.4 assists per game. Ursuline had a season-high 23 assists on 36 field goals against Trevecca on January 4. The Arrows also lead the conference with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
PROTECTING THE PAINT Ursuline ranks first in the G-MAC in blocked shots per game with 4.1, just ahead of Cedarville who is averaging 3.8 blocks.
Laney Lewis had a league-best seven blocks against Ohio Valley and leads the G-MAC with 1.6 blocks per game. Sophomore
Camryn Hill is second in the G-MAC with 1.3 blocks per night.
FROM DEEP IN THE SEDIMAN GYMNASIUM The Arrows are first in the G-MAC in field goal percentage (44 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (36 percent).
Ursuline had made 199 threes through the first 19 games led by junior
Erica Huber who has 42 makes. Freshman
Brigan Wymer has 35, sophomore
Camryn Hill has 35 and also leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (49 percent).
THE DIFF Ursuline leads the G-MAC in scoring differential with a +20.6 margin over their opponents.
CASHING IN AT THE STRIPE Ursuline leads the league in free throw percentage at 73 percent on the season. The Arrows have taken the second most free throws with 324 in the conference behind Ohio Valley (336). Ursuline attempted a season high 35 free throws against Lake Erie and went 31-for-35 from the line.
NEXT UP The Arrows will conclude the home portion of their regular season schedule on Saturday when they host Salem International University at 2:00 PM. The Arrows won the first meeting 72-51 in Salem earlier this season.
