The Ursuline College basketball team dropped an 82-73 decision to the visiting #5 California University of Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon.

The Vulcans got out to an early 10-3 lead before the Arrows closed the gap to 12-7 after a jumper by junior
Camille Gist at the 4:38 mark. Ursuline pulled to within 12-11 after sophomore
Natalie Koenig finished a layup. Ursuline trailed 17-15 at the end of the first quarter.

The two teams traded baskets most of the second quarter. Junior
Camryn Hill brought Ursuline back to within one at 24-23 with a layup at the 4:40 mark of the second. The Vulcans went on a 6-0 run to build the lead to their largest of the half at seven with 3:27 to play. Gist got the Arrows back to within a basket at 30-27 with 1:31 to play in the half but the Arrows trailed 32-29 at the break.

The Arrows took their first lead of the game in the third quarter at the 6:43 mark on a jumper by redshirt junior
Laney Lewis at 41-40. Â After the sides traded baskets, Ursuline took a three-point lead on a deep triple from Koenig at 51-48. The Vulcans ended the quarter on a 9-7 run to take a 60-55 lead to the fourth.

Ursuline cut the deficit to one-point three different times in the fourth quarter but each time California University (PA) answered back with a basket at their end of the floor.

The Arrows were paced by Lewis who finished with a game and career high 28 points on 11-for-17 from the floor. She also had 12 rebounds and six assists and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Koenig finished with 17 points on 6-for-17 shooting and Gist added eight points off the bench.

Ursuline shot 45 percent (26-for-63) from the floor and were just 1-for-11 from behind the arc. The Arrows were 14-for-15 from the free throw line and the rebounds were even at 37. The Vulcans shot 47 percent (35-for-74) from the floor and were 0-for-6 from three.

The Arrows will travel to Seton Hill University on Wednesday, November 30 to take on the Griffins in a 5:30 PM tip off.Â
