Arrows Host Senators Saturday Afternoon

LAST TIME OUT
Ursuline erased an early 10-2 deficit in the first quarter as they went onto defeat Alderson Broaddus 96-66 on Thursday night to improve to 4-2 in the G-MAC and 15-3 on the season. The Arrows were led by sophomore Camryn Hill (Strongsville, Ohio, Strongsville High School) who finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds and senior Raven-Symone Nelson (Chicago, IL, Morgan Park/Eastern Michigan) who had 18 points and was 4-for-6 from beyond-the-arc. Redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis (Lynchburg, Ohio, Lynchburg-Clay High School ) finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds while also picking up four assists and five blocked shots.
 
Davis & Elkins suffered a 72-41 setback at Cedarville on Thursday as they fell to 3-3 in the conference and 7-10 on the season. Junior Stephanie Wooten led the Senators with eight points but was 0-for-7 from beyond-the-arc.
 
SCOUTING URSULINE
 
Through 18 games, the Arrows are ranked as the nation's sixth highest scoring offense at 84.0 points per game. Ursuline has scored 100 points four times at home this season, most recently when they scored 128 in the win over Bluefield.  
 
Ursuline is also ranked second in the conference in defense by allowing 62.7 points per game.
 
Ursuline has five players averaging double figures this season led by sophomore Camryn Hill (Strongsville, Ohio, Strongsville High School) who is averaging 15.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds. Junior Erica Huber (Anna, Ohio, Anna High School) is averaging 15.7 points per contest while redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis (Lynchburg, Ohio, Lynchburg-Clay High School ) is averaging 12 points per night. The freshman duo of Brigan Wymer and Natalie Koenig who are scoring 12.9 and 11.7 points respectively.
 
SCOUTING DAVIS AND ELKINS
 
The Senators are the fourth highest scoring offense in G-MAC at 67.6 points per game and also rank fourth in points allowed at 70 points per game. Davis & Elkins is shooting 39 percent as a team from the field and 30 percent from deep.
 
Junior Stephanie Wooten is the conference's leading scorer with a 20.7 point per game average and also leads the league in three-point field goals made at 2.9 per game. Freshman Kali Wilburn is averaging 10.1 points per game but has a 13.3 point average against G-MAC opponents.
 
 
HOME SWEET HOME
 
Ursuline has been nearly unbeatable in their new facility this season. The Arrows are 10-2 in the Seidman Gymnasium this season, with the lone loss coming in overtime at the buzzer against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Arrows have scored 100 points or more four times at home and are averaging 90.5 points per game at home.
 
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
 
The win against Bluefield State set numerous school and G-MAC records. The 128 points was the most scored in a NCAA Division II game this season and the 21 made three's tied for the fourth most of any team this season.
 
The Arrows also had a conference-best 36 assists. The 14th win of the season for Ursuline matched the most wins since the 2013-14 season and are one shy of tying the most wins in school history.
 
LAST MEETING
 
The Senators took a closely contested match-up in Elkins, West Virginia last season 77-71 and the Arrows had their most lopsided win of the season with an 80-46 win over the Senators in a game played at Lake Erie College last February.
 
 
SPREADING THE WEALTH
 
The Arrows lead the conference in sharing the basketball through the first 18 games. Ursuline is averaging 16.4 assists per game.  The Arrows also lead the conference with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
PROTECTING THE PAINT
 
Ursuline ranks first in the G-MAC in blocked shots per game with 4.1, just ahead of Cedarville who is averaging 3.8 blocks. Laney Lewis had a league-best seven blocks against Ohio Valley and leads the G-MAC with 1.9 blocks per game. Sophomore Camryn Hill is second in the G-MAC with 1.6 blocks per night.
 
FROM DEEP IN THE SEDIMAN GYMNASIUM
 
The Arrows lead the G-MAC in both field goal percentage (44 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (36 percent).
 
Ursuline had made 163 threes through the first 17 games led by junior Erica Huber who has 40 makes. Freshman Brigan Wymer has 34, sophomore Camryn Hill has 30 and also leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (49 percent).
 
THE DIFF
 
Ursuline leads the G-MAC in scoring differential with a +19.1 margin over their opponents.
 
CASHING IN AT THE STRIPE
 
Ursuline leads the league in free throw percentage at 73 percent on the season. The Arrows have taken the second most free throws with 324 in the conference behind Ohio Valley (336). Ursuline attempted a season high 35 free throws against Lake Erie and went 31-for-35 from the line.
 
NEXT UP
 
The Arrows hit the road next week for an important trip to Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday and Saturday.
