Arrows to Host Battlers in Key G-MAC Match-Up

LAST TIME OUT

Ursuline had a record setting day last Saturday when they hosted Bluefield State. The Arrows scored a school and conference record 128 points and hit 21-for-40 from three-point land in their win over the Blues. Ursuline was led by freshman Brigan Wymer who scored a career-high 30 points on 11-for-18 shooting including 7-for-12 from three in just 22 minutes. Senior Raven-Symone Nelson added 28 points and was 8-for-12 from behind-the-arc while freshman Natalie Koenig added 19 points and sophomore Camryn Hill had 16 points in 11 minutes.  
 
Alderson Broaddus comes into play tied with the Arrows and two other teams for second place in the G-MAC. The Battlers took Kentucky Wesleyan to the wire last week before suffering a loss to Trevecca. Alderson Broaddus bounced back with a sweep of Ohio Valley and Salem to move to 3-2 in the conference.
 
SCOUTING URSULINE
 
Through 17 games, the Arrows are ranked as the nation's sixth highest scoring offense at 83.3 points per game. Ursuline has scored 100 points four times at home this season, most recently when they scored 128 in the win over Bluefield.  
 
Ursuline is also ranked second in the conference in defense by allowing 62.7 points per game.
 
Ursuline has five players averaging double figures this season led by sophomore Camryn Hill who is averaging 15.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds. Junior Erica Huber is averaging 15.7 points per contest while redshirt sophomore Laney Lewis is averaging 12 points per night. The freshman duo of Brigan Wymer and Natalie Koenig who are scoring 12.9 and 11.7 points respectively.
 
SCOUTING ALDESRON BROADDUS
 
The Battlers are the conferences third best offensive team averaging 70.2 points per game while allowing 74.6 points per night. Alderson Broaddus also ranks third in field goal percentage as a team at 41 percent.  
 
Junior Rachel Ashley is the conferences third leading scorer at 15.1 points per game and was named last week's G-MAC Player of the Week for her performances against Salem and Ohio Valley. Sydney Shaffer has also been a viable scoring threat for the Battlers as she has averaged 11.2 points per game and sophomore Jordan Parker has been strong this season as well.
  
HOME SWEET HOME
 
Ursuline has been nearly unbeatable in their new facility this season. The Arrows are 9-2 in the Seidman Gymnasium this season, with the lone loss coming in overtime at the buzzer against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Arrows have scored 100 points or more four times at home and are averaging 87.7 points per game at home.
 
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
 
The win against Bluefield State set numerous school and G-MAC records. The 128 points was the most scored in a NCAA Division II game this season and the 21 made three's tied for the fourth most of any team this season.
 
The Arrows also had a conference-best 36 assists. The 14th win of the season for Ursuline matched the most wins since the 2013-14 season and are one shy of tying the most wins in school history.
 
LAST MEETING
 
Both meetings between these two squads a season ago were offensive shootouts. The Arrows fell 96-88 in the game played in West Virginia but bounced back with a 105-88 win at home in a game played last February.
 
In the second meeting, the Arrows hit 15 three-pointers which at the time set a G-MAC record.
 
SPREADING THE WEALTH
 
The Arrows lead the conference in sharing the basketball through the first 17 games. Ursuline is averaging 16.4 assists per game. Ursuline had a season-high 23 assists on 36 field goals against Trevecca on January 4. The Arrows also lead the conference with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
PROTECTING THE PAINT
 
Ursuline ranks first in the G-MAC in blocked shots per game with 4.1, just ahead of Cedarville who is averaging 3.8 blocks. Laney Lewis had a league-best seven blocks against Ohio Valley and leads the G-MAC with 1.9 blocks per game. Sophomore Camryn Hill is second in the G-MAC with 1.6 blocks per night.
 
 
FROM DEEP IN THE SEDIMAN GYMNASIUM
 
The Arrows lead the G-MAC in both field goal percentage (44 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (36 percent).
 
Ursuline had made 163 threes through the first 17 games led by junior Erica Huber who has 40 makes. Freshman Brigan Wymer has 34, sophomore Camryn Hill has 30 and also leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (49 percent).
 
THE DIFF
 
Ursuline leads the G-MAC in scoring differential with a +19.1 margin over their opponents.
 
CASHING IN AT THE STRIPE
 
Ursuline leads the league in free throw percentage at 73 percent on the season. The Arrows have taken the second most free throws with 324 in the conference behind Ohio Valley (336). Ursuline attempted a season high 35 free throws against Lake Erie and went 31-for-35 from the line.
 
NEXT UP
 
The Arrows will remain at home on Saturday, January 30th when they host Davis & Elkins at 2:00 PM. The Senators are also 3-2 entering this week's conference games.
