MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio - The Ursuline College tennis team picked up its first win of 2015 with an 8-1 victory over Central State University on Friday (April 10) afternoon.

The Arrows are now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference while the Marauders slipped to 0-8 and 0-3 in conference play.

Freshman Roslyn Ng continued the blazing start to her collegiate career. She took care of NyAsia Taylor 8-0 to improve to 4-0 in the first singles spot. Ng's classmate Amanda Popik was also an 8-0 winner at the number two spot over CSU's Paris Nicks.

Senior Jules Turiczek and junior Caitlin Seese each picked up their first win of 2015 at third and fourth singles, respectively. Turiczek knocked off Alycia Smith, 8-2, and Seese won an 8-7 thriller over Renata Harris.

Central State's lone point came in fifth singles but the Marauders didn't field a complete lineup so UC got that point back with a forfeit in the sixth spot.

Ng and Popik blanked the opposition, 8-0, in the first doubles spot and Turiczek and Seese teamed together for an 8-5 victory in second doubles. CSU was forced to forfeit in third doubles.

There is little time to celebrate because the Arrows have a tough one tomorrow (April 11) against Cedarville University (9-8, 4-0 G-MAC). That match is scheduled to begin at noon on the UC campus.
