BEREA, Ohio - The Ursuline College lacrosse team lost its final non-conference tune-up at Baldwin Wallace University, 21-10, on Saturday (March 21) afternoon.

The Arrows are now 0-5 on the year while the Yellow Jackets evened their record at 2-2.

It was a game of runs in the first half. Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a 4-0 lead after Katie Kocher scored with 22:53 left in the first. Ursuline responded with four unanswered to even the contest at 4-4 thanks to goals from freshman Cydney Bartlett, sophomore Breana Cervantes, freshman Celeste Friel and sophomore Maddie Kipp.

Friel assisted on Bartlett's strike and sophomore Anika Aberegg set up her classmate Cervantes for her fifth goal of the year.

From that point, the Yellow Jackets went on a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 10-4. Cara Wood and Maddie Russell both scored two goals during the BW swing and Kayla Miller and Colleen Bodkin got into scoring column as well.

UC sophomore Natalie Pachinger found the back of the net for the ninth time this year with 2:03 left in the half but Katie Kocher and Russell both scored in the final 64 seconds to make it a 12-5 game at the intermission.

The Arrows came out firing to start the second frame and chipped away with two goals to get within five. Kipp scored an unassisted goal and then Aberegg beat BW goalkeeper Amanda Getto to make it a 12-7 game with 28:47 to go.

BW's Victoria Budzyn answered with a goal to extend the lead back to six but Pachinger countered with her second goal of the day to get UC within five at 13-8.

The Yellow Jackets went on a 4-0 run before Kipp stopped the momentum. Another 4-0 Yellow Jacket streak made it a 21-9 game and Friel scored with 1:01 remaining to decide the final margin.

UC sophomore goalie Lauren Cole made 13 saves while her counterpart Getto had 10 stops. Baldwin Wallace attempted 40 shots and Ursuline launched 25.

Ursuline is off until the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener at the University of Findlay on April 2nd. That game will start at 7:00 p.m.
