Lacrosse Falls to Notre Dame College, 23-16

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Ursuline College lacrosse team lost to neighborhood rival Notre Dame College by a score of 23-16 on Thursday (March 19) afternoon.

With the loss, the Arrows are 0-4 on the year while the Falcons picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-3.

Freshman Celeste Friel scored four goals and her classmate Cydney Bartlett had three, as did sophomore Maddie Kipp. Sophomores Natalie Pachinger, Sarah Kiefer and Anika Aberegg each scored twice.

NDC's Brooke Czarnecki scored eight goals and Darbie Barkman found the back of the net six times. Halie Taylor and Emilia Ferrara both scored three goals, Allison Merten had two and Amber Sa'ad also scored.

Ursuline was down 11-7 with less than a minute to go in the first half but strikes from Aberegg and Bartlett in the last 20 seconds made it an 11-9 game at the break.
Kiefer scored nine seconds into the second period for the third Arrow goal in the span of 29 game seconds and cut the lead down to one.

From that point on, NDC went on a 10-2 run to extend the lead to nine at 21-12.

UC sophomore goalie Lauren Cole made seven saves while NDC's Lauren Ragsdale was credited with 17 stops. Ursuline outshot Notre Dame by one, 38-37, and the Arrows also won the turnover battle by four, 13-9.

Ed Karasek's team will play another nearby foe on Saturday (March 21). The Arrows will travel to Berea, Ohio to take on Baldwin Wallace University. That game will start at 1:00 p.m. and will be covered with free live stats.
