Become a fan of Ursuline Basketball on FacebookOWENSBORO, Ky. - The Ursuline College basketball team fell behind early and couldn't mount a comeback in Monday (Jan. 5) night's 84-57 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
The loss dropped the Arrows to 2-12 overall and 1-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Panthers are now two games above the break-even mark at 7-5 and are 3-0 in conference play.
KWC led 40-18 at halftime and won the second half by five (44-39) to come away with the 27-point victory. At one point, the home team was in front by 34 after a Bria Wright three-pointer made it a 61-27 game with 11:26 remaining.
Freshman Madison Schroeder scored a career-high 18 points and, for the third time in UC's last four games, led the club in rebounding with seven boards. Sophomore point guard Erica Huber scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists and freshman forward Camryn Hill chipped in 10 points and six boards off the bench.
KWC's Jordanne Gambill was a perfect four-for-four from behind the three-point arc on her way to a game-high 18 points. The Panthers shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from three-point range while UC connected on three of its 23 (13 percent) three-point tries.
The Arrows will play their first "home" game of 2015 on Thursday (Jan. 8) when
Ohio Valley University comes to town. That game will start at 6:00 p.m. at
John Carroll University's Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center and will be covered with the
