UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Kentucky Wesleyan College sits in second place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the Panthers showed they are a real threat to repeat as conference champions in a 73-58 win over Ursuline College on Saturday (Jan. 31) night.

The Arrows have dropped five straight and are 3-18 overall and 2-8 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, Kentucky Wesleyan won its fourth straight game to improve to 12-6 overall and 8-1 in conference play.

KWC, the top rebounding team in the conference, dominated the Battle of the Boards, 51-26. The Panthers had 14 offensive rebounds which led to 13 second chance points. On the flipside, UC had three offensive rebounds and three second chance points.

Jordanne Gambill scored a game-high 16 points for KWC and shot 50 percent from the floor. Erin Dorn scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half and Jennifer Walker-Crawford, who was forced to the bench early with foul trouble, finished with 11 points in her 16 minutes of action.

Sophomore point guard Erica Huber led the Arrows with 14 points. Freshmen forwards Madison Schroeder (nine) and Camryn Hill (seven) combined for 16 points and senior guard Brianna Woods had a nice night off the bench with seven points, six assists and four rebounds.

On a couple of occasions, Woods had great looks inside to her classmate Emma Ricketts who scored seven points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Freshmen guards Camille Gist (six), Makayla Rosselot (five) and Kristen Curtis (three) accounted for UC's other 14 points.

Ursuline did a pretty nice job of valuing the basketball and committed just 16 turnovers, three fewer than the Panthers. Outside of rebounding, KWC also had a big edge in three-point shooting. The Panthers hit 10 of 25 (40 percent) from beyond the arc and Ursuline finished five of 22 (22.7 percent). The 15 extra points KWC recorded on three-pointers equal the final margin.

The Arrows will attempt to get back on track when they head to Vienna, West Virginia to take on Ohio Valley University on Thursday (Feb. 5). That game will start at 5:30 p.m. and Max Radigan will call Thursday's action live on the Ursuline College Sports Network.

This will be the second time this season that the Arrows and Fighting Scots are getting together. OVU defeated UC by a score of 62-53 on Jan. 8.
