Become a fan of Ursuline Basketball on Facebook NASHVILLE - Freshman forward Madison Schroeder and her senior frontcourt partner Emma Ricketts each notched a double-double but it wasn't enough as Ursuline College dropped its first game of the 2015 calendar year, 79-65 at Trevecca University on Saturday (Jan. 3) afternoon.
The Arrows have lost four consecutive games and are now 2-11 overall and 1-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Trevecca has won two straight and is 6-7 overall but a perfect three-for-three in conference play.
Schroeder scored 11 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds to pick up her first career double-double. Ricketts chipped in 16 points and corralled 12 boards to earn double-double number four of 2014-15.
Sophomore point guard Erica Huber led UC with 17 points, her second highest output of the season. Freshman guard Makayla Rosselot had 10 on 3-5 shooting and her classmates Camille Gist (six) and Camryn Hill (five) accounted for UC's other 11 points.
Christina Curtner scored a game-high 24 points for the Trojans and Briana McDonald went for 15 and 14 rebounds. Kaci Britt Bell, who entered the game ranked 11th in the G-MAC in scoring, finished with 11 points but did so on 17 field goal attempts.
Ursuline committed 31 turnovers while forcing 13 Trojan miscues. Trevecca finished with a combined 44 points off of turnovers and second chance points while UC had 12 points off of turnovers and six on second chance opportunities.
The Arrows trailed by 12 (37-25) at halftime and lost the second half by a bucket (42-40). After shooting a shade under 27 percent in the first 20 minutes, UC hit 42.4 percent of its second half field goal attempts.
Ursuline also held the G-MAC's best shooting team to a 34.9 percent clip on Saturday afternoon, about four percentage points below their season average.
The Arrows will stay in the south to take on
Kentucky Wesleyan College on Monday (Jan. 5). That game will start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern/5:30 p.m. Central and will be covered with
