UC is now 3-16 overall while Mercyhurst, winners in five of its last six games, improved to 8-12.
The Arrows shot just 18.2 percent (6-33) in the first half and found themselves down 34-21 at the intermission. Ursuline missed all nine of its three-point attempts in the first period while Mercyhurst was 12-29 (41.4 percent) from the field and 4-11 (36.4 percent) from beyond the arc.
Sophomore point guard Erica Huber led UC with six points in the first 20 minutes and her freshman backcourt mate Makaykla Rosselot had five while five other Arrows contributed two points.
Ursuline won the second half by three, 35-32, after the Lakers went cold from the perimeter (one of nine from three-point territory). The Arrows warmed up a bit and shot 32.3 percent (10-31) from the field in the second half. UC was helped by freshman guard Kristen Curtis connecting on all three of her second half three-point attempts.
Curtis and senior forward Emma Ricketts both scored nine points off the bench in the second half. Ricketts finished with 11 points to tie Rosselot for the team-high while Curtis and Huber each ended up with nine. Freshman guard Camille Gist scored six points, as did her classmate Madison Schroeder.
Schroeder was a huge factor on the glass all night and she pulled down 14 rebounds, one shy of her career-high. Five of her rebounds were on the offensive end and as a team, UC had 11 put-back points.
MU's Angela Heintz scored all of her game-high 12 points in the first half. Adrienne Kloecker scored 10 for Mercyhurst, as did Natalie Piaggesi. Jessica Ball chipped in seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds in the Laker victory.
Mercyhurst's Hannah Centea slid over to the point guard spot due to injury and handed out six assists while not turning the ball over once.
UC won the turnover battle by 10 (26-16) but was outrebounded 50-38. The Lakers had 14 offensive boards which led to 15 second chance points. Mercyhurst took the lead with 16:39 to go in the first half when a Kloecker three put the Lakers in front 6-4 and MU never gave it up. The lead grew to as many as 26 with 11:19 left in the game but UC cut it down to nine before settling on the 10-point final margin.
