UC Has Nine-Match Winning Streak Snapped by Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio – Host Tiffin University took care of Ursuline College in straight sets on Tuesday (Sep. 30) night to end the Arrows' nine-match winning streak. The Dragons won the first two sets by identical 25-17 scores and then took the third game, 25-21.

UC is now 9-2 overall and despite the sweep, interim head coach Sonja Williams has watched her club win 27 of its last 35 sets. Tiffin snapped its five-match losing streak and improved to 5-6 in the process.

Junior Abbie Fabo led Ursuline with seven kills and sophomore Emily Adkinson, the nation's leader in hitting percentage, had six. Freshman Courtney Burns chipped in five kills and junior Elise Harcek had four while senior setter Molly Hilfinger had three and sophomore Makayla Windau contributed a pair.

Hilfinger, who entered the match ranked 46th in the country in assists per set, was credited with 19 helpers on Tuesday night.

Defensively, Windau led the way with 10 digs and Fabo had eight. Junior Sabrina Kinney finished her night with six digs to go with a pair of services aces and an assist.

Ursuline will re-enter Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Friday (Oct. 3) night when Alderson Broaddus University visits Northeast Ohio. That match will be held at John Carroll University's Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please note the venue change as the match was originally scheduled for Hathaway Brown School.
